dc.description.abstractA study was made of the Southwest Asian species of the genus Culicoides Latreille 1809 from six countries: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Thirty-eight species of Culicoides belonging to seven subgenera: Trithecoides, Pontoculicoides, Avaritia, Culicoides, Oecacta, Beltranmyia and Monoculicoides are described and illustrated. A key is provided to the subgenera and slide mounted species of both sexes. Seven new species are described.en_US
