| dc.description.abstract | Any research project that involves human subjects requires ethical considerations and protections for individuals who enroll as participants. However, because the responsibility of these protections is often entrusted to the researchers, participants may not be aware of, and fully understand the rights to which they are entitled. The proposed training takes a preventative approach to increase awareness of protections available to individuals before they enroll in future research. The training also consists of an evaluation component to assess the extent to which the training program affects Prince George’s County residents’ decision-making ability regarding future research participation. The overarching goal of the project is to equip Prince George’s County residents so that they are able to make informed decisions about research participation that ultimately preserve, optimize, and protect their health and quality of life to the fullest extent possible. | en_US |
