In this dissertation, I frame contemporary Mexican historical narrative not merely as a critical reaction to the past, but as a generative project. Through my analysis of works by Cristina Rivera Garza, Álvaro Enrigue, Eduardo Ruiz Sosa, Yuri Herrera, and Julián Herbert, I explore how these writers articulate “malleable lines of flight.” Moving beyond the limitations of the “total novel,” and the “postmodern novel,” these works leverage documentary, autofictional, and montage strategies to reconfigure the archive into a site of collective intervention. I contend that these “documentary texts” function as far more than objects of cosmopolitan consumption; they actively challenge archival authority, commercial imaginaries, and state violence. By developing a reading model that synthesizes Cristina Rivera Garza’s aesthetics of “communality” with Bertrand Westphal’s concept of the “homotopic consensus," I reveal how contemporary literary form—even within the complex constraints of the market and the institution—succeeds in generating new cartographies based on a “real referent”. Ultimately, I argue that these aesthetic and political proposals allow us to engage with history, violence, and neoliberal modernity with a renewed, critical affective potential.en_US
