Abstract

This dataset provides global sub-sampling for a group of hypothetical sensors employing different orbital configurations. The hypothetical sensors include one passive radiometer, two SARs, and three LiDARs. The space-time sub-samplers are simulated as a function of the orbital configuration including the orbital altitude and inclination angle as well as the swath width for each of the hypothetical sensors. Using these sub-samplers, satellite mission planners and scientists can have a better understanding of when and where the Earth surface is viewed by the sensors without incurring the actual expense of a mission launch.
