Legality of Barro Blanco Dam in Panama

Abstract

This was a legal memo I wrote for ENSP 330- Introduction to Environmental Law. The memo was answering the question I chose the following question- Did the Panamanian government violate international law by approving the Barro Blanco hydroelectric dam project? I did extensive research on international environmental and human rights law as well as Panamanian law to be able to address the legal question. Ultimately, I concluded that Panama did violate international law by approving the Barro Blanco dam.
