This archive contains a collection of reports generated by the faculty and students of the Institute for Systems Research (ISR), a permanent, interdisciplinary research unit in the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland. ISR-based projects are conducted through partnerships with industry and government, bringing together faculty and students from multiple academic departments and colleges across the university.

On the resiliency of sensor networks under the pairwise key distribution scheme
    (2011-07) Yagan, Osman; Makowski, Armand
We investigate the security of wireless sensor networks under the pairwise key distribution scheme of Chan et al. [2]. We present conditions on how to scale the model parameters so that the network is i) unassailable, and ii) unsplittable, both with high probability, as the number of sensor nodes becomes large. We show that the required number of secure keys to be stored in the memory of each sensors is order of magnitude smaller than what is required for the Eschenauer-Gligor scheme [5].
