| Abstract: | The hamiltonian structure of floating, planar four-bar linkages is discussed. The geometry of configuration space is related to the classical theory of mechanisms due to Grashof. For generic value of kinematic parameters, the techniques of symplectic (and Poisson) reduction apply. |
