Abstract
This data collection contains animations showing the rotational sequences observed in Comet 46P/Wirtanen during its 2018/2019 apparition. The images were obtained with a narrowband CN filter, and enhanced with three different techniques (see description) to reveal the detailed structure in the coma. The sequences were phased to the periods derived from our rotation analyses.
Notes
The data consist of 16 groups of phased images of comet 46P/Wirtanen.
The directory name defines the group and dates included in the sequences.
Each group contains three animations (in animated GIF format), each with a different enhancement that reveals different types of structure.
The sequences are phased to the period given in each filename.
The filenames within the directory contain the period used for phasing and the enhancement technique. For example: CN_movie_09_1400_azav_bw.gif
where 09_1400 denotes the period 9.14 hrs
and the enhancement is azav, where
azav = division by an azimuthal average;
ta = division by a temporally averaged mask;
ta_azav = division by a temporal mask combined with an azimuthal average.
