The poems that make up this thesis are divided into four sections. The first section is focused on outside characters, from a dancing nurse to the figures in paintings. The second section moves more into the first person and explores the ideas of watching and seeing, and begins to reveal more of the existence and state of mind of the speaker. The short third section pushes the characters more clearly into the realm of the imaginary and the unreal. Finally, the poems of the fourth section deal with language and the act of writing itself.en_US
