The performance of the reflection symmetric residual quantizer (rRQ) on various types of sources is tested and certain conclusions about its capabilities and limitations are drawn. rRQ is then used to design several low-complexity speech spectrum coding schemes. Results of these methods are presented and their performance is compared and found similar to other known speech spectrum coding methods of similar complexity.en_US
