| dc.description.abstract | We partnered with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (WMATA) to design and implement two plantings for stormwater management in their bioretention ponds at the Landover Bus Division. The previously built bioretention ponds needed to be refreshed with new plantings. To address this, the class divided into two groups, each focusing on one pond, and submitted initial designs and plant lists for feedback. After two revision rounds, final designs that prioritized accessibility, biodiversity, and aesthetic appeal were selected and installed. Additionally, a maintenance guide was developed, including essential information, recommended maintenance schedules, and plant health tips, to assist WMATA in caring for these plantings and to support future projects. | |
