Abstract
This article describes behavior of Broad-tailed Hummingbirds (Selasphorus platycercus) in Mexico, which the author describes (perhaps mistakenly) as mating behavior.
Notes
This is an English translation of a German paper from 1948. I made this translation in the 1970s when I was doing graduate research on the Broad-tailed Hummingbird (Selasphorus platycercus) at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. To facilitate access to the paper by future researchers I have obtained permission from the publisher of this journal (now absorbed by Zoologischer Anzeiger - A Journal of Comparative Zoology) to post both a copy of the original article and my translation. Dr. Nick Waser made some corrections and additions to the translation in April 2010.
