dc.description.abstractNathan Francis Mossell, M.D., 1882 (1856-1946), was the first African-American to graduate from Penn's Medical School. In 1895 Dr. Mossell was a co-founder of the Frederick Douglass Hospital, which later merged with Mercy Hospital to form Mercy-Douglass.
