Abstract

This thesis explores the potential for expanding the New School of Orlando into a cohesive campus while adhering to the school's philosophy of Multiple Intelligence development under the parameters of a set future growth.

Founded in 1995 and located within the city limits of Orlando, Florida, the New School is a private school serving children in kindergarten through eighth grade. The school provides an education rooted in Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, which states there are eight different, yet equally valuable, types of intelligence. During the past nine years, the school has over tripled in size and has expanded from a two room school house to five full buildings, on one-quarter of a city block. The school is quickly reaching its maximum capacity (given its currents facilities).
