This presentation at the Big Ten Academic Alliance Music Educators Conference in October 2016 provided an historical overview of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Historical Center at Special Collections in Performing Arts (SCPA) at the University of Maryland. While the emphasis was on the entire history of the Historical Center, considerable attention was given to recent acquisitions since 2006. Notable American music educators included in the collections were highlighted. The work of the three curators at SCPA was also examined, as well as the mission, vision, and collecting scope of the repository.
