To celebrate Donna Haraway's work, Marilyn Strathern contributes her prescient 1991 review of Haraway's Primate Visions, from Science as Culture Vol. 2, No. 2, pp. 282-295.

"....Thus primate studies began as a colonial affair, 'in which knowledge of the living and dead bodies of monkeys and apes was part of the system of unequal exchange of extractive colonialism.' Primate bodies grounded (and gendered) the discourse." (282)
