A recursive parameter estimator in discrete time is presented for multiple-input, multiple-output linear stochastic systems that are bilinear in the parameters and state. It is globally convergent to minima of the asymptotic negative log likelihood function, and approximates the fast transient response of the optimal nonlinear filter used as a parameter estimator.

Small area estimation and prediction problems: spatial models, Bayesian multiple comparisons and robust MSE estimation Ganesh, Nadarajasundaram (2007-07-16)We study and partially solve three distinct problems in small area estimation. The problems are loosely connected by a common theme of prediction and (empirical) Bayesian models. In the first part of the thesis we consider ...
Li, Ta-Hsin; Kedem, Benjamin; Yakowitz, S. (1992)This paper investigates the asymptotic distribution of the recently-proposed contraction mapping (CM) method for frequency estimation. Given a finite sample composed of a sinusoidal signal in additive noise, the CM method ...
EVALUATION OF THE NASA MICROWAVE RADIATIVE TRANSFER MODEL FOR SOIL MOISTURE ESTIMATION USING AQUARIUS BRIGHTNESS TEMPERATURE OBSERVATIONS OVER THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES Tarik, Saad Bin (2014)The implications of near-surface soil moisture (~5 cm) variability in land surface processes and land-atmosphere interactions is important in regional and global scale climatology since it controls the partitioning of ...
